The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)

POCSO 3

As a landmark decision, a law against child sexual abuse i.e., The Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act, also known as POCSO Act, was implemented by the Indian government in 2012. The POCSO Act holds any spectator, individual, or group accountable if they do not report any kind of sexual offence against a child.

Under the act, the accused has to prove their innocence rather than the child having to prove that the offence occurred. The mental and physical safekeeping of the aggrieved child is the topmost priority as per the POCSO Act.
